25 Jul Lobster Mini Season is a hit at Sea Experience!
Captains Bill, Mateo, Andrew and Quinn are reporting excellent conditions for this year’s mini season! We have had flat, calm seas with temperatures in the low 80s and just a easy north current. The Seaxp2 has been coming back with happy divers and lots of lobsters!
Mini Season ends tonight at midnight and then the regular lobster season opens August 6th and runs through March 31st. The catch limit is 12 lobsters per day here in Broward County during Mini Season and is 6 per day during regular season. In Monroe County and Biscayne National Park the limit is 6 per day. The carapace must be larger than 3 inches, be measured in the water and must not be bearing eggs. Lobster must be harvested in a manner that does not puncture, penetrate or crush the exoskeleton (shell) or the flesh of the lobster. The lobster must be landed whole and separating the tail from the body is prohibited in state waters. Unless exempt, a fishing license with a lobster stamp is required.
